A Hero's Life — Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
Showcasing the artistry of violinist Nikki Chooi, concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, A Hero's Life is a captivating celebration of virtuosity, passion, and orchestral brilliance. Conducted by acclaimed Music Director JoAnn Falletta and released on Beau Fleuve Records, the album features two powerful symphonic works.
At the heart of the recording is Chooi's compelling performance of Behzad Ranjbaran's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. With dazzling technique, expressive sensitivity, and remarkable musical depth, Chooi brings the concerto to life, delivering a performance of exceptional intensity and lyricism.
The album also features Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life), Op. 40, an epic orchestral masterpiece exploring heroism, struggle, and triumph. Chooi's expressive solo violin passages add a deeply personal dimension to Strauss's sweeping musical narrative.
Recorded at Buffalo's historic Kleinhans Music Hall with recording engineer Bernd Gottinger, A Hero's Life highlights the exceptional artistry of Nikki Chooi, JoAnn Falletta, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
